What is 2012? Is The World Going To End In December 2012?

There has been a lot of interest lately in the theory that the world is going to end in December 2012. December 2012 is going on, and many people think the world is going to end in this month which is also featured in the famous Hollywood movie, 2012. Today I want to discuss something with you about what is 2012? And is the world going to end in December 2012?

December 2012 – Current Hoaxes being spreading out regarding December 2012.

I have seen many hoaxes spreading out that during 23-25 December 2012 there will be total darkness means total blackout on earth and the world would end during this period.

This story comes from the Nibiru (a supposed planet discovered by the Sumerians) and from the Mayan Calendar. This catastrophe was initially predicated for May, 2003 but when nothing happened in 2003 and then this date was moved forward to December 2012. This all story originated from Mayan calendar.

The question is arising here is that what is Maya calendar?

According to Wikipedia, The Maya calendar is a system of calendars used in pre-Columbian Mesoamerica, and in many modern communities in highland Guatemala and in Veracruz, Oaxaca and Chiapas, Mexico. The Maya calendar consists of several cycles or counts of different lengths.

According to Maya Calendar, on 21 December 2012 the cataclysmic or trans-formative events will occur. This date which is assumed to be the end of the earth, however but this date is actually regarded as the end of a 5125 year-long cycle (End of the Mayan long count period) but then just as your calendar begins again on 1st January another long court period begins for the Mayan calendar.

So 21 December 2012 won’t be the end of the world as we know.

Now i have seen many rumors spreading out and here is a one i have seen on Facebook,

“NASA predicts total blackout on Earth from 23 to 25 December 2012 during alignment of Universe. If possible, avoid traveling during the 3rd week of December 2012 as all modes of communication may fail. US scientists predict total darkness on planet earth for 3 days from December 23. It is NOT the end of the world, it is just an alignment of the Universe, where Sun & earth will align for the 1st time. All planets are expected to align in a straight line as a result of which there could be natural calamities on Earth. The earth will shift from the current 3rd dimension to zero dimension, then shift to the 4th dimension. Kindly forward :)”

Some other rumors contained the phrases like — “total blackout of planet,” “alignment of the universe,” “shift from the current third dimension to zero dimension,” etc.

But NASA scientists have not predicted anything like that. Neither NASA nor any other scientific organization is predicting such a blackout. The false reports on this issue claim that some sort of “alignment of the Universe” will cause a blackout. There is no such alignment reported yet in December 2012. There is no credible evidence for any of the assertions made in support of unusual events taking place in December 2012. So this report with the claim that the “alignment of the universe” will cause a blackout is simply false and misleading. Scientifically, there are no planetary alignments in the next few decades, and if this alignment occurs its effect on the earth is negligible. This alignment incident occurs every year in December in which the earth and sun aligns with the approximate center of the Milky Way galaxy but that is an annual event which brings me to the point that there is nothing to fear. It actually happens every December with no result.
