After spending 146 days using Blogger and interacting with many people finally i came to know about the reasons Why WordPress is better than Blogger and so we have successfully migrated our blog from Blogger to WordPress.
There are many reasons why WordPress is better than Blogger which forced me to migrate from Blogger to WordPress but i will share that in the latter part of this post but first I would like to show you some changes that we had made after migration.

Now getting back to the topic I would like to tell you the reasons why WordPress is better than blogger which forced me to migrate from Blogger to my own self-hosted WordPress blog. There are many things which we can do on our self-hosted WordPress blog and can’t do on blogger blog.
I used Blogger to start my blogging career and I have also posted a detailed article on the topic that why blogger is the best way to start your blogging career. However using Blogger as blogging platform has many limitations. Let us study about those factors which made me to move to WordPress from Blogger and why WordPress is better than Blogger ?
3 Reasons Why WordPress is Better Than Blogger?
1. Control Over Blog
This is one of the major advantage of self hosted blog. You have a full control over your blog as compared to Blogger blog. As blogger is owned by Google, it may drop it anytime without any notice and we have seen many cases like this which you can search on Google. Moreover, in case of Blogger if the blog gets hacked then there is no way to recover it but in case of WordPress you can use the backup from your server or host to restore your blog. So in this way WordPress offers full control over your blog and you can use it without any restrictions and fear.
2. Search Engine Optimization
We all know that one of the best way to get traffic to blog is via search engines and WordPress allows you many options to optimize your blog easily for better SEO as compared to blogger. Though you can add meta tags, meta keywords individually in blogger posts too but it is a complex process. Whereas, in case of WordPress with the help of extensive range of plugins you can easily optimize your blog for proper SEO. So I feel that from SEO point of view WordPress is better than Blogger way ahead.
3. Customization & Flexibility
This is another big reason why WordPress is better than Blogger. The vast number of plugins and themes on WordPress make it very easy to use and customize. Some may even say that there are vast number of themes available on WordPress too, but I feel vast would not be correct adjective then. Blogger too has many themes available but most of which are not very much customizable and flexible.
Now coming to other point, WordPress offers you a range of helpful plugins to choose from which is not possible in case of Blogger. Many premium plugins available on WordPress really allow your blog and provides it with new and life where as on Blogger you have to do and check everything manually.
These are only the few reasons that why WordPress is better than Blogger and you should go up with WordPress as your blogging platform.

I use blogger with a custom domain and I also handle WordPress contributor’s account for various clients. I can clearly see the difference between the two platforms and how I wished I could easily migrate to WordPress. But since my main stream of income is from freelance writing and blogger is much easy to setup and maintain I am still stuck with it. But yes, somewhere in a corner of my mind I have the desire to setup a new or move my current blog to WordPress. I really don’t know when will I find some time to do so!

I would recommend you to go for WordPress if you can write good and regular content on your blog and want to become a serious step in blogging but if you are blogging just for fun or passion then you may continue with Blogger platform because it is good enough to satisfy your needs then.
